I see much of life through glass...or as it would appear through glass. Not the glass of a window, but rather through the lens of a camera. This is my photo-a-day blog for 2009.
I'm a supporter of Defenders of Wildlife and have been for quite a while, but it just fucking kills me to see my good money being spent on crap like this...and offers for a windbreaker embroidered with their logo if I give them $15. I know stuff like that isn't *that* expensive, but it *is* money that could be otherwise spent. I'd rather see my money going to save the wolves that Palin is killing with her aerial shootings...bitch. I can't imagine she'd be all too thrilled with an airplane hunting her down with a high powered rifle aimed at her.
We need predators in our wild lands. Our ecosystems include predators for a reason...and it's not so we can go out and shoot them for our own pleasure.
Pigeon that has decided, with its mate, to build a nest in our gutter. It's been cool to watch them gather the materials. The female, I'm assuming, rarely leaves the nest, except when my 4 year old goes "caw caw...caw caw" at her. He does the whole bird dance...flaps his arms, picks up his knees...you can imagine it. I don't think the bird couple liked it when I was taking pictures of them either - they both flew away and wouldn't come back until I left.
Pen from Guatemala - my parents spent 10 days in Guatemala/Honduras a couple weeks ago and all I got was this really cool pen with my name on it. Apparently the kids are trained to make these pens with thread, right there on the street. Mom said she couldn't figure out how they did it, but the letters always came out correctly. I think it's pretty cool. :D
Bucket trucks...I went driving around this morning to find something to photograph and came across a ton of flashing lights and no less than 3 bucket trucks with their buckets extended up for the guys to work. I kinda got the feeling they didn't like me taking pictures after this guy came up to me and said "Ma'am, why are you taking pictures? Are you with the newspaper?"
